Harvested from 148 acres of vineyards in the sandy plains of Fernando Po region, its wines result from four generations of Freitas & Palhoca’s family expertise in winemaking.Located in the Setúbal Peninsula, the region of Fernando Po is famous for the quality of its grapes, that grow on the soft sands of the plain, under about 2200 hours sunshine per year, sheltered by a microclimate seasoned byTagus and Sado rivers. Red grape varieties particularly reveal in all its glory here. In the 148 acres of family vineyards they are dominant, including local Castelão, Touriga Nacional, Alicante Bouschet, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah and Tannat. In the white varieties, the choice went to Fernão Pires, Siria, Verdelho, Viosinho and Muscat.In Fernando Po region wine was traditionally part of everyday life, inseparable from food and sold at the cellar door. During the weekends, visitors arrived to fill their cardboys, shared stories and snacks. And became friends. This is a legacy that Fernão Pó Winery keeps alive, creating wines made for the table, genuine and gastronomic.
