Quinta do Escudial is a small family company and is part of Dão region, located on the botton, SW of the highest mountain of Portugal – Serra da Estrela. The vineyards are planted on poor granitic soils 600meters above sea level. Low temperatures and humidity during the winter and high temperatures on the summer. In 2003, when this project start to be dynamised, the personal taste of Jose, a former 68 years old an electrical engineer and his wife Maria a teacher, led Quinta do Escudial to bet on the exclusive production of UNOAKED wines. “It’s not a flag, it’s just a concept”, they say.
