Excellent wine qualities from all over the world honoured at anniversary tasting
MUNDUS VINI celebrates 30th Grand International Wine Award
With the awarding of 3,022 wines from a total of 42 wine-growing nations, the Grand International Wine Award MUNDUS VINI celebrates a record result at its 30th edition and honours great wine qualities.
In total, the international jury of experts awarded 43 Grand Gold, 1,685 Gold and 1,294 Silver medals to the best wines of the MUNDUS VINI Spring Tasting.
Italy leads the top 5 winemaking nations, winning a total of 5 Grand Gold, 364 Gold and 364 Silver medals. They are followed by Spain (7 Grand Gold, 362 Gold, 298 Silver) and Portugal (5 Grand Gold, 186 Gold, 123 Silver). The Top 5 is completed by France (10 Grand Gold, 173 Gold, 109 Silver) and Germany (1 Grand Gold, 116 Gold, 91 Silver).
Christian Wolf, Director Degustation and member of the board of MUNDUS VINI, draws the conclusion of a successful anniversary tasting: "A big thank you goes to our international wine experts who made their way to us at the end of February to critically, neutrally, blindly and fairly evaluate the wines submitted. The wines sent in were impressive, rarely have we seen such a homogeneous level of quality in the competition."
Awards were also given for the best wine producers in a country (Best Producer) and for the best wines in their category (Best of Show).
During the ProWein wine trade fair, which takes place in mid-May, these award winners will be honoured at the awards ceremony at the MUNDUS VINI stand and the certificates will be officially presented by the competition's board of directors.
