A new association – the Viticoltori di San Donato in Poggio (The Winemakers of San Donato in Poggio) – has been founded in Chianti. The new members came together at the historic Palazzo Malaspina in San Donato in Poggio to celebrate, on 8 February 2018.
The new association brings together the Chianti Classico wineries in the Florentine municipalities of Tavernelle Val di Pesa and Barberino Val d’Elsa.
According to a statement from the Consorzio Vino Chianti Classico, the new association was “conceived to give voice to this territory, to draw attention to the geological and soil and climate features of the vineyards of the different wineries, to promote the agricultural, historical and cultural tradition.”
Laura Bianchi of Castello di Monsanto was unanimously elected President, while Natascia Rossini of Podere La Cappella was made Secretary.
The association will be officially introduced to the public on 12 and 13 February 2018, at the Stazione Leopolda halls in Florence.
