"The New Supertuscans"
Issue 2 is all about the Italian wine world. So it is this year, too.
However, the top theme of the issue deals with the "new Supertuscans". On the one hand, many "classic", established Supertuscans are becoming finer and finer, less and less characterised by new oak and maximum concentration, towards more structure and finesse. On the other hand, a completely different group of Tuscan wines also bears the generic label "Vino da tavola": we are talking about the more naturally oriented individualists that do not fit into any DOCG scheme. There are a number of outstanding red wines in this field of tension that we would like to recommend to our readers, the sommelières and sommeliers in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
In order to filter out the very best, we will be tasting around 60 hand-picked Tuscan red wines with the sender "Vino da tavola" or "Toscana IGT" on 13 April.
