Many things were different at this year's MUNDUS VINI Summer Tasting, but not the high quality in the tasting of the world-renowned Grand International Wine Award, which took place for the 27th time in Neustadt an der Weinstrasse, Germany.
A total of 120 wine experts tasted and evaluated almost 4,500 wines from all over the world over four days. The results are impressive: 13 Grand Gold, 919 Gold and 849 Silver medals were awarded by the expert jury to the best wines of the competition.
Wines from Italy are again the winners of the competition with a total of 552 awards, followed by Spain (320 awards), Germany (282), France (112) and Portugal (96). However, wines from overseas nations such as Australia (59), South Africa (36) or the United States of America (28) were also able to convince with their qualities and were awarded prizes.
"Also this year our expert jury was impressed by the wine qualities. We are very pleased that we can help to provide a worthy platform for the best wines with this award in currently difficult times," said tasting director Christian Wolf, drawing a positive conclusion.
"Since the beginning of the Corona Pandemic, we were sure that we would be able to offer wines from all over the world a professional environment for tasting this August as well. Together we have developed and implemented an appropriate safety concept. My greatest thanks go to the wine experts for their cooperation. It would have been a great pity if we had not been able to make our recommendations for the best wines at the 2020 summer tasting. Both winegrowers and consumers have been relying on the tasting results of MUNDUS VINI for 20 years now. We did not want to disappoint this trust".
