MUNDUS VINI Spring Tasting 2020

Impressive statistics at the MUNDUS VINI Spring Tasting: 7,500 wines submitted from all over the world // 268 jurors from 54 countries taste the entries in a concealed manner

The 26th MUNDUS VINI Grand International Wine Award begins today. Around 7,500 wines from 45 countries compete here for the coveted medals. The best wines will be awarded Silver, Gold and Grand Gold. The majority of wines at this year’s Spring Tasting are from Italy (1,747), followed by Spain (1,543), France (819), Portugal (724) and Germany (620).

A jury of 268 experts from 54 countries will judge the wines submitted in the Neustadt city hall Saalbau. This year the percentage of female wine experts is 40 percent. The competition will run from 18 to 23 February.

The results of the MUNDUS VINI Spring Tasting will be published on MEININGER ONLINE on Tuesday, 25 February 2020.

The winners of the MUNDUS VINI Spring Tasting will also be presented to trade visitors at the world’s largest trade fair for wines and spirits, ProWein in Düsseldorf, from 15 to 17 March 2020 in the MUNDUS VINI Tasting Area. Wines receiving a highly coveted special award will be honoured on the first day of the trade fair at a top-class awards ceremony, where certificates will be handed out to the winemakers by the Board of MUNDUS VINI.

MUNDUS VINI was founded 19 years ago, and from the beginning has been one of the most important wine competitions in the world. The 12,000 wines that are submitted every year are clear proof of the importance this competition has now achieved all over the world. They are evaluated using the 100-point system of the International Organization of Vine and Wine (OIV). The Wine Award process takes place twice a year, in spring and late summer. The initiator of the Grand International Wine Award MUNDUS VINI is the Meininger publishing house.
