The Uggiano winery was founded in the early 70’s in the Castle of Montespertoli by a group of businessmen from Bergamo sharing a great passion for Tuscan wines and inspired by French-school enologist Dr. Giuseppe Losapio. The vineyards spread over rolling hillsides at an altitude of 250 to 300 meters between the Tuscan villages of Montespertoli, Montelupo Fiorentino and San Casciano in Val di Pesa. In 1976 the cellars of the Uggiano winery were enlarged and relocated to San Vincenzo a Torri in proximity of the Pesa river valley, among monasteries, churches, villas and country houses which so epitomise the history and Tuscan tradition. In this context, Uggiano produces and distributes its Chianti Colli Fiorentini DOCG all around the world, a light-hearted, genuine and well-balanced dry red wine with a bright ruby red colour and a fruity, intense and spicy bouquet. Suitable for everyday meals, but also for special occasions. Chianti Colli Fiorentini Uggiano is a wine made primarily from Sangiovese grapes along with small percentages of both autochthonous grapes such as Canaiolo, Ciliegiolo, Mammolo and Cabernet Sauvignon. Its symbol is Dante Alighieri, as portrayed in Giotto’s fresco dated 1336-1337 and whose image is part of the emblem of "La Casa di Dante Alighieri" Museum in Florence. This portrait, displayed on our label, is a privilege granted to us by the Florentine Museum as testimony to the quality of our wine. Chianti Colli Fiorentini DOCG, with Chianti Riserva DOCG “The Pheasant”, the Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon based Supertuscans represent the highest expression of Uggiano’s winemaking tradition as well as being the symbols of its success. All the wines produced in our winery are skilfully overseen by a professional team of oenologists, constantly engaged in the pursuit of excellence in quality. It is an intrinsic part of Uggiano’s tradition to produce fine wines. Reviews and ratings in the major guides and wine-magazines as well as the copious international recognition in terms of prizes and awards are the natural consequence of our policy of quality and evidence of our success in the wine industry. A large and impressive ageing cellar houses 3000-6000 Lt. traditional oak casks for the ageing of the wines along with 225 Lt. French oak barrels where Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah are aged for long periods in order to enhance their aromatic characteristics. A modern 100% automatic bottling line accompanies and completes the production process while a large and modern thermo-controlled warehouse stores and keeps the wines “ad hoc” before distribution.
